Homegrown Vegetables

The rainy season is starting over, rain no longer comes down. I live in a very dry area when the dry season arrives. We do not have water sources such as wells and rivers. We get to hold rain water in the rainy seasons. When the dry season comes and no longer cloudy, water obtained by purchase from the water tank that carries the water from the springs.
There are some vegetables that still had a chance to pick  before the dry season arrives.

Young pumpkin leaves are the other edible part of pumpkin tree, served with Lemon Basil and young cosmos leaves as Javanese salad called 'urap'.

String beans, young pumpkin leaves, winged bean, cosmos young leaves and young string bean leaves. Perfect fresh homegrown vegetables to cook.

It is the first time I grow red string beans, and it gives me pretty red beans dangling among the cosmos leaves....

Lettuce and 'terong lalap' egg fruites.

  3. I didn't know you could eat cosmos leaves! I have them growing in my vege garden in summer because they look pretty and attract the bees... but I never thought of eating them. I'll have to try them this summer!

Yes we usually eat cosmos leaf, boiled or fresh combined with lemon basil and sambal. Sambal is a kind of Indonesian sauce.
I don't know whether your cosmos is the same with ours here. I sowed some varieties like red dazzler and daydream cosmos on February. But I just failed germinating them. I wanted to know are they also edible or not. My cosmos flower here is smaller then yours, I put cosmos flower on the first image together with pumpkin leaf. I think it is small.
